Keyboardist
jamie shields has been a noteworthy player on the Canadian music scene for nearly two decades. Enthusiasts might know of his early work in White Elephant or The Hopping Penguins, but Jamie really began to flourish with the fusion band
One Step Beyond. By 1998, emerging with a signature sound and a handful of touring experience, he formed
the New Deal, his most successful group to date. Demand for their high-energy blend of live dance music has taken jamie to thousands of concerts around the continent, sharing the stage with
the likes of Herbie Hancock and The Roots. He has performed at Miami's Winter Music Conference, New York's CMJ, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and the Montreal, Toronto and New Orleans jazz festivals. Jamie enjoys a virtually encyclopaedic knowledge of rock musicology, and loves to talk
shop over a hot bowl of soup in Kensington Market. Other times he can be found at home, performing crowd favorites for his wife and kids.
